Dzeko calls for concentration ahead of title decider

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has called for focus ahead of Sunday s Premier League title decider versus West Ham.

Dzeko scored a second-half double as City moved two points clear of Liverpool at the top of the table with a 4-0 win over Aston Villa on Wednesday.

Barring a massive swing in goal difference, Manuel Pellegrini s men will win a second title in three seasons with a draw against West Ham.

But Bosnia-Herzegovina striker Dzeko insists that City cannot afford to get complacent, although he feels that the experience of the dramatic 2011-12 finale, when City came from behind to win the title on the last day by beating QPR 3-2, will count in their favour.

We played good football in the first half, they (Villa) didn t have any chances but the manager said…

Zamorano: If Messi were Chilean, he would have monuments all over the country

Ivan Zamorano said Lionel Messi would have monuments all over the county if he were Chilean as the former international suggested the Argentina star is undervalued in his homeland.

Despite being regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, Messi still comes in for criticism from fans in Argentina having failed to reach the lofty heights like he has done for Barcelona.

While Messi has won 28 trophies for the LaLiga giants, the five-time Ballon d Or winner has been unable to lead Argentina to silverware even after reaching consecutive Copa America deciders and the 2014 World Cup final.

Speaking ahead of Chile s trip to Buenos Aires for Thursday s World Cup qualifier against Argentina, ex-Real Madrid and Inter striker Zamorano insisted Messi the country s ca…

Erik ten Hag : I would have 75% win ratio at Manchester United but for injuries

Erik ten Hag believes he may have won up to 75 of his first 100 matches as Manchester United boss was it not for an injury list he claims no team would be able to cope with.

This has been a poor second season in the hotseat for the under-pressure Dutchman, who suffered a 3-1 defeat at rivals Manchester City last weekend as he brought up a century of matches in charge.

Ten Hag had to field a patched-up team against the Premier League champions and absentee-hit United will again be without a host of first-team players for Saturday’s clash with embattled Everton.

Marcus Rashford and Jonny Evans have been passed fit after coming off in the Manchester derby, but Omari Forson has joined their lengthy list of injuries ahead of the weekend.

Catarina Macario goal sends Chelsea into FA Cup semi-finals

Substitute Catarina Macario scored three minutes after her second-half introduction to send Chelsea through to the FA Cup semi-finals with a 1-0 victory over Everton at Walton Hall Park.

The United States international was still recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament issue when she signed for the Blues last summer but made an emphatic first impression when she scored on her debut in last week’s Women’s Super League victory over Leicester.

Emma Hayes made six changes from Thursday’s Conti Cup semi-final victory over Manchester City, but Chelsea failed to find an opener in a cagey first half, coming closest with a crossbar-clipping header by Nathalie Bjorn before the centre-back was forced off and replaced by Niamh Charles in the 14th minute.

Everton forward Steven Naismith is on the verge of securing a move away from Goodison Park,.

The Scotland international has been strongly linked with a move to Norwich City, though Toffees manager Roberto Martinez has refused to say which club is involved.

The twenty-nine-year-old moved to the Merseyside club from Rangers in the summer of 2012 and has since racked up one hundred and twenty-three appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring twenty-five goals.

All three of his league strikes this season came in Everton’s shock 3-1 win over champions Chelsea back in September though he has started just four league games since and has only scored for his country.

He has not been involved in any of his sides matches in 2016, with his substitute…

Mourinho happy with Chelsea squad

Chelsea F.C. manager Jose Mourinho has revealed he is happy with his current squad, insisting he will not sell Fernando Torres this transfer window.

The Spain international, 30, joined Chelsea for a club-record fee of £50 million in 2011 but has failed to live up to the expectation of the club s supporters.

Mourinho has strengthened the Blues strikeforce after belittling last year s trio of Demba Ba, Samuel Eto o and Torres on several occasions, bringing in Diego Costa and Didier Drogba from Atletico Madrid and Galatasaray respectively.

The Portuguese has also brought in Cesc Fabregas and Kurt Zouma, who returns from his loan at French Ligue 1 side AS Saint-Étienne, and is content with his current rotation of players.

We have a good squad,…
